According to the internet (so it must be true, right?), ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus is the one we credit for the saying…
“The only constant is change.”
– Heraclitus
Looking back on 2022, it’s tempting for me to agree and lament the unexpected, difficult, and life-altering changes that my family has experienced this year.
But, while change is often a regular occurrence, it is NOT the only constant.
“I the Lord do not change.”
– Malachi 3:6
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
– Hebrews 13:8
When we’re bombarded with so many changes our head spins, we must remember that God is our constant. The God who knows the number of hairs on our heads, the God who gave his Son to reconcile us to Himself, HE never changes.
He is constantly loving and constantly just.
In turbulent times, we need not settle for hopeless philosophical declarations. Events that we see as “unexpected changes” or “unforeseen circumstances” are no surprise to God.
He is constantly omniscient and constantly omnipotent.
This Christmas, let’s not allow our circumstances to distract us from the Truth!
From my family to yours, have a blessed Christmas and we wish you all the best in the New Year!
